While the 2024-25 season was a complete disaster for the Boston Bruins, Morgan Geekie undoubtedly was a bright spot for them. In 77 games with the Bruins on the year, the 27-year-old forward set new career highs with 33 goals, 24 assists, and 57 points. This included finishing the season on an 11-game point streak, where he posted nine goals and 19 points over that span. He also memorably had a five-point game against the Carolina Hurricanes on April 5.
After his excellent breakout season, Geekie earned a six-year, $33 million contract from the Bruins this off-season. During a recent interview with Bruins team reporter Eric Russo, Geekie shared excitement about remaining in Boston.
"It's awesome," Geekie said. "I mean, it's one of those things that, obviously, I wanted to stay in Boston. I love the organization. I love the guys. I think last year was pretty unfortunate circumstances for everybody, but I love the group of guys that we have, and the additions we made... I'm excited to see what the future holds and just being prepared for camp come September."
The Bruins will certainly be hoping that Geekie can build off his excellent 2024-25 season from here. He demonstrated this past season that he can be a legitimate top-six forward, and the Bruins will undoubtedly need him to continue to be a difference-maker for them.
With Geekie being signed long-term, he is now a key piece of the Bruins' roster as they continue their retool. It will be fascinating to see what kind of season he has in 2025-26 after landing this nice payday this summer. Clearly, he is motivated to help the Bruins get back on track.
Bruins Miss Out On Interesting Potential Target
The Boston Bruins have added many new players to their roster this off-season as they continue their retool. While this is the case, there is no question that they would benefit by bringing in at least one more scoring winger before the season is here.
