This is undoubtedly tough news for the Bruins.

This is undoubtedly tough news for the Bruins.

Boston Bruins defenseman Hampus Lindholm has not played since suffering a lower-body injury during Nov. 12's contest against the St. Louis Blues.

While speaking to reporters before the Bruins' latest matchup against the Columbus Blue Jackets, head coach Joe Sacco provided a less-than-ideal update regarding Lindholm.

"Still out weeks," Sacco said. "I'll have to get another update, but he's still weeks away."

While the Bruins have gotten their season back on track since their cold start, there is no question that they could still use Lindholm right now. He is one of their best defensemen, as he plays top-four minutes and provides a bit of everything from the point. However, based on Sacco's update, there is still a good amount of time left before Lindholm returns.

Lindholm, 30, has three goals, seven points, and a minus-4 rating in 17 games this season with the Bruins. This is after he had three goals, 26 points, and a plus-18 rating in 73 games last season.
