BRIGHTON, Mass. -- Matt Grzelcyk will be back in the Boston Bruins lineup on Saturday against the New Jersey Devils following a three-game absence with an upper-body injury.
"[Grzelcyk will be] in the game tonight, partnering with [Kevin] Shattenkirk," Bruins coach Jim Montgomery said.
Grzelcyk exited Boston's 4-3 overtime loss to the Minnesota Wild on Dec. 19 following a big hit from Marcus Foligno in the first period, but eventually returned to finish the game. However, that was the last time he's seen game action.
The 29-year-old defenseman has one goal in 20 games this season, his only point so far. While playing most of the year on the top defensive pair with Charlie McAvoy, Grzelcyk will take Parker Wotherspoon's place on the third pair on Saturday.
To make room for Grzelcyk's return, the Bruins waived Ian Mitchell on Friday. The 24-year-old defenseman has two points -- both assists -- in 13 games.
