The Bruins defenseman could hit new career highs before the season is over.
At the 2024 NHL trade deadline, the Boston Bruins acquired defenseman Andrew Peeke from the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for Jakub Zboril and a 2027 third-round pick. The move was understandable, as the Bruins needed a right-shot defenseman for their third pairing.
Fast forward to this season, and Peeke has been pretty solid for the Bruins overall. In 51 games, the shutdown defenseman has 55 hits and 81 blocks. However, what's most interesting about Peeke's 2024-25 season is that he is producing offense more consistently than in past years.
Peeke has 12 assists and 13 points at this point of the season. With this, he needs just two more assists and three more points to set new career highs. The Bruins have 25 games remaining, so the odds are in Peeke's favor right now.
Peeke hit his current career highs of 13 assists and 15 points during the 2021-22 season, where he appeared in all 82 games with Columbus.
It will be intriguing to see if Peeke can stay on track and set new career highs from here.
