Winslow Townson-USA TODAY Sports - Bruins Depth Forward Reportedly Set to Leave Organization

Oskar Steen will be leaving the Boston Bruins organization this offseason, his agent Joakim Persson told Varmlands Folkblad.

The 26-year-old winger will be able to sign with another NHL club as soon as July 1. While Steen would prefer to play in North America, returning to his native Sweden to play in the SHL or going to Switzerland are also on the table, according to Persson.

"Boston has given us permission to already start talking to other teams to see what interest there is," Persson told VF, translated via Google Translate. "So those are the conversations we are in the middle of now, and I'm going over to Vegas for the NHL draft on July 28-29 and [will] continue to have conversations and dialogues there."

Steen ends his tenure in Boston with four goals and four assists in 60 NHL games across parts of four seasons. His largest stint with the big club came this year, when he earned a consistent fourth-line role from late October to mid-February before getting sent back down to AHL Providence after scoring one goal in 34 games.

Steen totaled 116 points (53 goals, 63 assists) in 221 career games with Providence, including 12 goals and 16 points in 25 games this season.

The Bruins drafted Steen in the sixth round (165th overall) of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, where they also selected players such as Charlie McAvoy (14th) and Trent Frederic (29th). Steen is just one of nine players from his round to appear in any NHL games, and is one of five with more than 40.

Steen wasn't expected to factor into the Bruins' NHL lineup in 2024-25 even if he stayed, and while his next stop remains up in the air, the Bruins have officially closed the book on his time with the organization.
