
With the 110th pick of the 2024 NHL Entry Draft, the Boston Bruins selected defenseman Elliott Groenewold. This was after the 6-foot-2 blueliner had five goals, 16 points, and 77 penalty minutes in 57 games with the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders of the USHL in 2023-24.
Following being drafted by the Bruins, Gronewold played his first collegiate season with Quinnipiac University this past campaign. In 38 games with the school during his freshman year, he had four goals, 12 points, and a plus-5 rating. Overall, it was a solid first season for the Springfield, Vermont native.
Yet, Groenewold undoubtedly has taken his game to a new level this season with Quinnipiac, and Bruins fans should be paying more attention to him because of it
Groenewold has had an excellent sophomore season with Quinnipiac, as he has six goals, 13 assists, 19 points, and a plus-37 rating in 36 games. With how well the Bruins' prospect has played this season, he was named to the All-ECAC First Team.
Groenewold's strong play this season for Quinnipiac should be making Bruins fans feel optimistic about his future with the Black and Gold. The Bruins may have found themselves a nice piece with Groenewold, and it will be fascinating to see how he builds on his game from here.
