According to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, interest in this Bruins forward is picking up.

On the latest edition of Sportnet's Saturday Headlines, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman reported that there is a lot of trade interest in Boston Bruins forward Trent Frederic.

Here is what Friedman said on the matter:

"There are some names out there that people are hearing from. Now, one of them we're going to see tonight on the backend of our double-header, and that's Trent Frederic of the Boston Bruins. Unsigned for next year. I've been around long enough to know what's true today, may not be true tomorrow when it comes to contract negotiations, so I'm not going to handicap it. But they definitely are getting a lot of calls. 'What are you thinking here? Will you keep him? Will he be available?' He's a guy that's definitely got a lot of interest."

Hearing that Frederic is continuing to generate interest is not particularly surprising. The fact that he still does not have an extension is notable, and he is a physical player built for post-season hockey. Thus, teams inquiring about him makes sense. However, that does not automatically mean that the Bruins will trade him, especially if they are in a playoff spot later this season.

Frederic, 26, has appeared in 32 games this season, where he has five goals, six assists, 96 hits, and a minus-13 rating.
