The Boston Bruins are one of many teams in the Eastern Conference fighting to get into the playoffs. The Bruins currently hold the second wild-card spot in the East, but also have teams like the Columbus Blue Jackets and Washington Capitals close behind them. With this, the Bruins can't get comfortable yet.
Now, based on a new report, there's a possibility that the Bruins will be bringing in a significant player this season, but not through trade.
According to The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta, there is a belief that top prospect James Hagens will join the Bruins' roster later this season.
If Hagens does sign his entry-level contract and makes the jump to the NHL level, it would certainly be big news for the Bruins. The 19-year-old forward is the Bruins' most promising youngster and would undoubtedly have the potential to provide their forward group with a major boost because of it.
Hagens, who can play both center and wing, is currently in the middle of a marvelous sophomore season with Boston College. In 30 games on the year with BC, he has recorded 20 goals, 20 assists, and 40 points. With numbers like these, there is no question that he possesses a high amount of offensive skill.
All eyes should be on Hagens once BC's season comes to an end. It will be interesting to see if he ends up signing his entry-level deal with the Bruins, but based on Pagnotta's report, it certainly seems possible.
