Morgan Geekie is the Boston Bruins' top pending restricted free agent (RFA) with July 1 rapidly approaching. The 26-year-old is coming off a strong 2024-25 season, as he recorded new career highs with 33 goals, 24 assists, and 57 points in 77 games. With this, getting him signed to a new contract should be one of the Bruins' biggest objectives of the summer.

While speaking to reporters, Bruins general manager Don Sweeney shared the latest updates on the negotiations with Geekie.

"There's been constant communication. Are we on the doorstep? I don't think so, but things can change within one phone call," Geekie said. "Again, you get in around this time frame, and sometimes you're tracking on a deal, and you get it done right away, and other times you get sort of pushed to the back burner as to do what everybody else is maybe focused on. I'm not concerned about it.''

With this latest update from Sweeney, it seems that the Bruins and Geekie still have more work to do before getting a new contract signed. When noting that the 2017 third-round pick is coming off a career season, it is understandable that he is taking his time before signing his next contract.

It will be interesting to see what Geekie's next deal with the Bruins ends up looking from here. The 6-foot-3 forward is undoubtedly due for a raise.

The 26-year-old blueliner is a pending unrestricted free agent and could be a popular target if he hits the market at the start of next month.
