Team Finland announced their roster for the 4 Nations Face-Off, and Boston Bruins goaltender Joonas Korpisalo surprisingly did not make the cut.
After a rough season with the Ottawa Senators in 2023-24, Korpisalo has bounced back in a big way with the Bruins this campaign. In 10 appearances this season, he has a 6-2-1 record, a .909 save percentage, and a 2.39 goals-against average.
While Korpisalo made a real case for himself to make Team Finland, they went in another direction with their goaltending. Finland will be going with Juuse Saros (Nashville Predators), Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen (Buffalo Sabres), and Kevin Lankinen (Vancouver Canucks) as their three goalies.
Joonas KorpisaloKorpisalo has a better save percentage than both Lankinen and Luukkonen. In addition, his goals-against average is better than all three goalies who made Finland's roster. Thus, he had a real argument to earn a spot as one of Saros' backups.
