BOSTON – Bruins general manager Don Sweeney wouldn’t say whether or not the organization is happy with the care Charlie McAvoy received from Team USA during the 4 Nations Face-Off when he suffered a shoulder injury.
“The care Charlie received here is what’s most important,” Sweeney said. “Dr. (Peter) Asnis and his team did a great job . . . I’m not going to talk and get into any more details.”
Sweeney added there’s no timetable on McAvoy’s possible return, but he’s doing much better.
McAvoy suffered a shoulder injury during the first game against Finland, but still played against Canada in the second game of the best-on-best tournament. However, he was hospitalized with an infection and needed treatment when Team USA arrived in Boston. Sweeney wouldn’t say who made the final decision for McAvoy to play after the injury.
“We’re beyond all that,” Sweeney said. “If Charlie wants to make comments when he does come back, but we gave a specific timeline, gave the health of the player how it relates now and we’re grateful for the care he got and now he’s feeling good.”
