After trading for JJ Peterka, the Bruins should make a push for these two players.
After a quiet start to the off-season, the Boston Bruins made a notable trade on Friday. They traded two first-round picks to land skilled winger JJ Peterka from the Utah Mammoth. With this, they addressed one of their biggest needs, which was a top-six winger.
However, if the Bruins hope to compete in the very competitive Atlantic Division, they should not be done making moves yet. It is clear that they still have some big roster needs to address.
Because of this, let's take a look at two more star players who the Bruins should strongly consider making a push for this off-season.
Zach Werenski, Columbus Blue Jackets
The Bruins' top need when it comes to their blueline is a top-four right-shot defenseman. However, with the Blue Jackets listening to offers on superstar defenseman Zach Werenski, the Bruins would be wise to make a push for the left-shot blueliner.
If the Bruins landed Werenski, he would give them a true No. 1 defenseman to play with Charlie McAvoy on their top pairing. The reigning Norris Trophy winner just had a monster season with Columbus, as he had 22 goals, 59 assists, and 81 points in 75 games.
Landing Werenski would be a game-changing move for the Bruins, but he also has a full no-movement clause, so he would need to approve a move to Boston.
Vincent Trocheck, New York Rangers
The trade market for a center just keeps getting slimmer. Rumored Bruins target Mason McTavish was dealt to the St. Louis Blues on draft day. Meanwhile, Robert Thomas is expected to stay in St. Louis, and Detroit Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin is believed not to have the Bruins on his trade list.
Because of this, if the Bruins want to add a much-needed top-six center this off-season, their best bet right now may be New York Rangers forward Vincent Trocheck.
While Trocheck may not be a legitimate long-term answer for their first-line center, he would improve their top six. The veteran center is coming off a 53-point and 193-hit season in 67 games, so he would provide the Bruins' top six with a nice mixture of offense and grit if acquire.d
