What will the Bruins do with Viktor Arvidsson?
The Boston Bruins' off-season is here, and it is an important one for the Original Six club. While the Bruins got into the playoffs this year, it is clear that they need to upgrade their roster if they hope to be real threats in 2026-27.
While the Bruins should be looking to bring in new players, they also have an important decision to make with one of their pending unrestricted free agents: Viktor Arvidsson.
After being acquired last off-season from the Edmonton Oilers, Arvidsson thrived during his first season as a Bruin. In 69 games this campaign with the Black and Gold, he had 25 goals, 29 assists, 54 points, and a plus-20 rating. With numbers like these, he became a key part of the Bruins' second line.
Given how well Arvidsson played for the Bruins this season, there is certainly a real argument to be had about the possibility of them signing him to a contract extension. Letting him walk would create a hole in their top six that the Bruins would need to address.
However, at the same time, Arvidsson is also 33 years old. Due to this, there could be some risk signing him to a multi-year contract extension.
Nevertheless, it is going to be interesting to see what the Bruins decide to do with Arvidsson this off-season. He is the team's most notable pending UFA to watch.
