The Bruins need to make a big trade in 2025.

The new year is officially here. This is a notable time in the NHL, as trade talks continue to increase as we inch closer to the trade deadline. The Boston Bruins are expected to be busy this year, as their roster needs improvement.

The Bruins will likely be buyers again this season, as they have turned things around after their terrible start. They now have a 20-15-4 record and are third in the Atlantic Division.

The Bruins are due for a big trade in the new year. It is apparent that they need to add another impactful top-six forward if they hope to improve their chances of going on a real run this post-season.

Adding a top-six center would be a massive deal for the Bruins. Even after signing Elias Lindholm to a seven-year deal this past off-season, it is clear that they still need help down the middle. A few notable centers discussed in the rumor mill include Brock Nelson, Trevor Zegras, and Dylan Cozens.

However, that is not their only notable top-six need. After letting Jake DeBrusk leave through free agency, they did not find a replacement for him. Thus, the Bruins could also look to add a proven top-six sniper to help their offense.

It will be interesting to see what Bruins GM Don Sweeney does in 2025, but the Original Six club is due for a significant move. Let's see if they make one from here.
