The Bruins are reportedly among the teams who have expressed interest in this Red Wings trade candidate.

The Boston Bruins have had a fantastic start to the season, as evidenced by them being at the top of the Atlantic Division with a 10-4-1 record.

Now, as the Bruins continue to stay hot, they are being connected to one of the NHL's best trade candidates.

According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the Bruins are among the NHL teams that have taken a "long look" at Detroit Red Wings star defenseman Simon Edvinsson as he remains unsigned and wants a trade.

"Teams I’ve heard took a long look at Edvinsson: Boston (although less chatter recently), Nashville, St. Louis, San Jose, Seattle. No doubt there are more," Friedman wrote.

This is not the first time that the Bruins have been linked to Edvinsson, and it is easy to understand why. The left side of their top four could use a boost, and landing a young defenseman with great upside like Edvinsson would provide the Original Six club with just that.

Edvinsson has already shown during his young career that he can make an impact in a top-pairing role. Thus, he would have the potential to be a perfect long-term partner for Charlie McAvoy on Boston's blueline.

Furthermore, at just 23 years old, Edvinsson is the kind of defenseman that a Bruins club that is focused on both the present and future should be targeting. Thus, it will be interesting to see if chatter between the Bruins and Red Wings about Edvinsson picks up again from here.

In 72 games last season with the Red Wings, Edvinsson recorded nine goals, 25 points, 94 hits, 148 blocks, and a plus-12 rating
