The Bruins should consider targeting these three players from the Flames.
The Boston Bruins should be looking to add to their roster this season. When looking at their current group, it is fair to argue that they could still use some help.
Due to this, one team who the Bruins should consider keeping an eye on is the Calgary Flames. The Flames are in the middle of a rebuild and could end up being big sellers yet again this campaign because of it.
Due to this, let's look at three Flames players who could be strong fits on the Bruins' roster.
Connor Zary, C/LW
Zary is a very interesting young player who could make sense for Boston to pursue. TSN's Darren Dreger reported earlier this summer that the Flames were looking to move him, so it would be understandable if the Bruins kicked tires on him this season.
Zary is a former first-round pick who is coming off a down year, posting 12 goals and 25 points in 74 games. Yet, he also had 27 points in just 54 games in 2024-25 and a career-high 34 points in 63 games with the Flames in 2023-24 as a rookie, so he has already shown promise offensively in the NHL. Perhaps a change of scenery on a team like Boston could help the 24-year-old take that next step and become a top-six forward.
Morgan Frost, C
Morgan Frost is another center on the Flames who could be a solid fit on the Bruins' roster. While he would not be an answer for their first-line center problem, he would give them another skilled center who produces solid secondary offensive production.
Frost is entering the final season of his contract in 2026-27, so he has been the subject of a lot trade rumors this summer. The 27-year-old also had a strong season in 2025-26, scoring a career-high 22 goals and recording 43 points in 82 games.
Joel Farabee, LW/RW
The Bruins could use another top-six winger, so Farabee could be an intriguing player for them to take a chance on. The 26-year-old forward appeared in 82 games last season for Calgary, where he posted 20 goals and 38 points.
Yet, Farabee's past seasons indicate that he could produce more offense in the right situation. For example, during the 2023-24 season with the Philadelphia Flyers, he set career highs with 22 goals, 28 assists, and 50 points in 82 games. With numbers like these, he would be an interesting player for Boston to take a gamble on. He is signed through the 2027-28 season, carrying a $5 million cap hit.
