When looking at the Boston Bruins' roster, it is clear that they could use another high-impact winger to solidify their top six. 

Because of this, the Bruins would be very wise to kick tires on Columbus Blue Jackets forward Kirill Marchenko.

Questions about Marchenko's future with the Blue Jackets have continued to come up as the off-season rolls on. They started back at the 2026 NHL Entry Draft when ESPN's Kevin Weekes reported that Marchenko's camp informed him that he is unlikely to re-sign with the Blue Jackets once his current contract is up.

With that, the Bruins should strongly consider making a push for the 26-year-old.

If the Bruins acquired Marchenko, he would give them a top-six winger who is right in his prime. He would be a strong upgrade over Casey Mittelstadt on the Bruins' second line and would also offer them another clear option to work with on their power play if acquired. 

Marchenko is entering the final season of his contract, where he has a bargain $3.85 million cap hit. He will be a restricted free agent next summer if he does not sign an extension by July 1. 

In 76 games last season with the Blue Jackets, Marchenko posted 27 goals, 40 assists, and 67 points. This was after he recorded 31 goals and 74 points in 79 games with Columbus during the 2024-25 season. With numbers like these, he would be a strong pickup for a Bruins team that needs more offense. 

Overall, with the Bruins needing another star in their top six, it would make a lot of sense for them to try to bring in a player like Marchenko. It will be interesting to see if they make a push for him from here.
