The Bruins should make a push for this Hurricanes star.

Boston Bruins GM Don Sweeney has made it abundantly clear that one of his goals this offseason is to improve the club's offense. Besides adding a first-line center, the Bruins will likely look to bring in a top-six winger. The Carolina Hurricanes offer a very good one in Martin Necas.

Necas, 25, is one of the NHL's top trade candidates heading into the summer. Earlier this month, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman speculated that Necas could be dealt this offseason, noting that he believes the Hurricanes won't do "what Necas wants to do." He also noted that Jake Guentzel and Seth Jarvis are more significant priorities.

With the Hurricanes likely to at least listen to offers for Necas, the Bruins stand out as a prime potential landing spot. They desperately need to improve their top six and now have the cap space to sign Necas to a long-term deal.

If the Bruins landed Necas, he would work nicely on a line with captain Brad Marchand. He would also give the Bruins' power play a significant jolt because of his scoring and playmaking abilities.

Necas appeared in 77 regular-season games with the Hurricanes this season, posting 24 goals and 53 points. He also has the potential to have an even more significant impact, as he had 28 goals and 71 points in 82 games just the season before.
