Boston Bruins prospect Cooper Simpson has been traded in the United States Hockey League (USHL), as the Youngstown Phantoms have announced that they have acquired Simpson from the Tri-City Storm.

Simpson played in nine games this past season with Tri-City, where he posted seven goals, one assist, and a plus-4 rating. Overall, the Shakopee, Minnesota native performed well during his short amount of time in the USHL this past season with the Storm. Now, he will be looking to continue to trend in the right direction with the Phantoms in 2025-26 from here.

Simpson certainly showed off his offensive potential this past season while playing with Shakopee High School in Minnesota, too. In 31 games with the school, he led all Minnesota high school players with 49 goals and finished the year with 83 points. With numbers like these, there is no question that he is a scorer, and it will be intriguing to see what kind of season he has with the Phantoms after being traded there by the Storm.

Simpson was selected by the Bruins in the third round of this year's NHL Entry Draft with the 79th overall pick. He is one of the Bruins' most intriguing prospects from this year's draft class and could end up becoming a nice piece for them in the future if he develops properly. Thus, all eyes should be on him next season when he plays for the Phantoms from here.
