Could the Bruins look to make a splash this summer for this Rangers star?

The Boston Bruins have taken a nice step in the right direction this season after their nightmare 2024-25 campaign. At the time of this writing, the Bruins have a 36-23-6 record and hold the second wild card spot with 78 points.

Yet, when looking at the Bruins' roster, it is clear that they could use another impactful forward in their top six. They can't address this need through trade this season with the deadline, but they certainly can once the summer is here.

Due to this, in a recent article for Bleacher Report, Joe Yerdon listed the Bruins as a potential offseason landing spot for New York Rangers star center Vincent Trocheck.

"The Bruins were hunting for help at the trade deadline for the playoffs, and although things were quiet, the offseason shouldn't be. Elliotte Friedman mentioned on the 32 Thoughts podcast that the Bruins were trying to get Vincent Trocheck, and Kevin DuPont of the Boston Globe confirmed the B's were in on the Rangers' center. It's a chase they should renew," Yerdon wrote.

With the Bruins being interested in Trocheck leading up to the deadline, it would not be particularly surprising if they kicked tires on him this summer. It is clear that the Bruins could use another star center in their top six, and Trocheck would give them just that.

If the Bruins landed Trocheck during the off-season, he could replace Elias Lindholm as their first-line center. However, even if Trocheck was used as the Bruins' second-line center and Pavel Zacha moved to the wing, he would have the potential to give Boston's top six a nice boost if acquired.

Trocheck's contract adds to his appeal, as he would be more than a rental for the Bruins. The 32-year-old center has a $5.625 million cap hit until the end of the 2028-29 season, so he would be a solid long-term part of the Bruins' roster as they retool.

Ultimately, with the Bruins needing another star, Trocheck would have the potential to be a strong fit on their roster. In 50 games this season with the Rangers, he has 12 goals, 33 assists, 45 points, and 149 hits.
