Matt Grzelcyk had to be helped off the ice just 1:05 into the Boston Bruins’ 6-5 overtime win against the Edmonton Oilers and was later ruled out with a lower-body injury.

For the second game in a row, the Boston Bruins lost a left-shot defenseman to injury. Matt Grzelcyk exited Boston’s 6-5 overtime win just 1:05 into the game after getting tripped by Edmonton Oilers forward Ryan McLeod.
The Bruins saw Hampus Lindholm (lower body) exit against the Dallas Stars on Monday, and the Swede is out week-to-week. As for Grzelcyk, his prognosis appears slightly better.
"He's doing okay. Day-to-day right now," Bruins coach Jim Montgomery told reporters in Edmonton after the game.
However, Montgomery did not have a definitive answer on whether or not Grzelcyk will return for Thursday's matchup against the Calgary Flames.
The Bruins recalled Mason Lohrei from AHL Providence on Tuesday to take Lindholm’s place in the lineup on Wednesday, with the latter not traveling with the team on its four-game road trip to Western Canada and Seattle.
The 23-year-old rookie tallied three assists for his first multi-point NHL game against Edmonton, and Boston will need more of that from him if both Grzelcyk and Lindholm miss significant time. Lohrei has nine points (three goals, six assists) in 28 games with Boston this season.
"Just stepping up and trying to make plays every shift to help the team win," Lohrei told reporters in Edmonton.
Mark Allred of Black N' Gold Productions reported that the Bruins will recall Ian Mitchell from AHL Providence, meaning the 25-year-old defenseman could find himself in back the mix in the near future.
Mitchell last played with Boston on Dec. 23, and he has two assists in 13 games this season.
If Grzelcyk misses Thursday’s game against the Calgary Flames, the Bruins defensive corps will likely take this combination:
Parker Wotherspoon-Charlie McAvoy
Mason Lohrei-Brandon Carlo
Derek Forbort-Kevin Shattenkirk
