The Bruins' decision to acquire Will Borgen is already paying off.

The Boston Bruins made multiple moves this off-season. Among them was acquiring defenseman Will Borgen from the New York Rangers in exchange for a 2027 second-round pick and a 2028 third-round pick.

It was no secret that the Bruins needing help on the right side of their blueline heading into the offseason. While some were skeptical of the Bruins' decision to trade for Borgen, it is paying off in a major way so far.

Borgen has been fitting in very well in the Bruins' top four early on. The 29-year-old defenseman is providing the Bruins' blueline with a lot of stability because of his strong defensive play. Overall, he is being exactly the solid stay-at-home defenseman that Boston hoped he would be when they acquired him.

In nine games so far this season with the Bruins, Borgen has posted one goal, three points, 13 blocks, and 27 hits. His plus-9 rating is also tied with Hampus Lindholm for the best on the Bruins' roster.

Overall, Borgen is proving to be a significant upgrade to the Bruins' right side over players from last season's roster like Henri Jokiharju, who is currently playing in the AHL with the Providence Bruins, and off-season departure Andrew Peeke. If Borgen continues to play this well in a top-four role for the Bruins, they should be in very good shape this season.
