The Bruins getting into the playoffs could end up being good news for James Hagens.
After a nightmare 2024-25 season that saw them kick off a retool, the Boston Bruins have officially clinched a spot in the playoffs just one year later. While the Bruins have been struggling down the stretch, as their five-game losing streak demonstrates, it has certainly been a successful regular season for the Black and Gold.
The Bruins making the playoffs has the potential to benefit top prospect James Hagens, too. With the Bruins officially set to play postseason hockey, there is no reason for the Bruins not to let Hagens get into his first NHL action over these last games of the regular season.
This final stretch of the regular season would be a great time for Hagens to play his first games for Boston. This is especially so when noting that the Bruins' offense is continuing to struggle during their losing streak.
The Bruins are set to face off against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Sunday and then finish off their regular season against the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday. It will be interesting to see if Hagens plays in at least one of those contests, but it is hard to find a justifiable reason why he shouldn't.
