This dream target for the Bruins is officially off the board.

The Boston Bruins were one of the teams connected to star forward J.T. Miller. NHL insider Frank Seravalli reported just last week that he believed the Bruins "kept close tabs" on Miller and named them as a dark horse in the sweepstakes.

However, the idea of Miller joining the Bruins can now officially be forgotten.

The Vancouver Canucks have traded Miller, along with Erik Brannstrom and Jackson Dorrington, to the New York Rangers in exchange for Filip Chytil, Victor Mancini, and a conditional first-round pick.

The Rangers were heavily linked to Miller, and now they have officially brought him back to New York. This is certainly tough news for the Bruins, as Miller could have been the answer for the Bruins' desperate need for a first-line center.

Miller, 31, is in the middle of another strong season, posting nine goals, 35 points, and 92 hits in 40 games thus far. This is after he set career highs with 37 goals and 103 points in 81 games last season. With numbers like these, he could have been a fantastic addition to the Bruins.

It will be intriguing to see how much of an impact Miller can make with the Rangers from here. With the Blueshirts looking to reclaim a playoff spot, this is a massive splash for them.
