The Boston Bruins are preparing for a big matchup against the Philadelphia Flyers today (March 23). Their goal is to bounce back and secure two points after their tough 5-2 loss to the New York Rangers on Thursday (March 21).
This is a critical game for the Bruins. After their most recent loss, the Bruins' lead in the Eastern Conference is far from comfortable. The Rangers trail the Bruins by one point, the Hurricanes are down by only two points, and the Florida Panthers are three points behind Boston. The Panthers being so close is particularly notable, however, as they are a division rival with two games in hand.

As a result, the Bruins absolutely need to defeat the Flyers. While the rebuilding Flyers have exceeded expectations this season and currently hold a playoff spot, this is a very winnable matchup for the Bruins. The Flyers have also been struggling a bit lately, winning just four out of their last 10 games.
Nevertheless, at this juncture of the season, every point matters, and the Bruins are recognizing that big time. They need to win the games where they are favorites on paper. This is especially so when considering that they have upcoming matchups against red-hot teams like the Panthers (twice), Hurricanes (twice), Tampa Bay Lightning, and Nashville Predators.
