The Boston Bruins return to the ice on Sunday afternoon to face off against the Montreal Canadiens. The Bruins will look to bounce back after a tough 2-1 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday.
This will be a special contest in Bruins history, as it will be played on the official 100-year anniversary of the Original Six club's first-ever NHL game. Thus, the Bruins will be looking to secure a much-needed .win against their biggest rival.
The Bruins will also be aiming to fix a major problem that they have faced throughout this season. Heading into this contest, the Bruins have scored only one third-period goal at TD Garden this entire season. Coincidentally, that lone goal occurred against the Canadiens during the Bruins' home opener on Oct. 10.
Brad Marchand & Arber XhekajNeedless to say, the Bruins are due big time for a solid third period at TD Garden. The Bruins currently have the least third-period home goals in the NHL, and this matchup against the Habs presents another opportunity to break their cold streak.
The Canadiens are coming to Boston with an 8-12-3 record and are at the bottom of the Atlantic Division standings. Thus, this is a winnable contest for the Bruins, and we will need to wait and see if they break their third-period at-home slump from here.
