The Boston Bruins still have multiple parts of their roster that could use improvement at this stage of the off-season. Among them is their top six, as they could use another high-impact scoring winger. 

Because of this, the Bruins would be very wise to keep an eye on what happens with Alex DeBrincat and the Detroit Red Wings.

With DeBrincat entering the final season of his contract in 2026-27, questions about his future in Detroit have been coming up. Also fueling them is Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin requesting a trade earlier this off-season. 

If contract extension negotiations do not go well between DeBrincat and the Red Wings and he is made available, the Bruins would certainly need to consider making a push for him. He would be a significant upgrade over Casey Mittelstadt on the Bruins' second-line left wing spot at a minimum.

However, DeBrincat could also work on Boston's top line with David Pastrnak if acquired. In either scenario, the Bruins' top six and power play would get a massive boost if they brought in a 41-goal scorer like DeBrincat. 

With all of this, the Bruins should really be keeping an eye on what happens between DeBrincat and the Red Wings. There is certainly a chance that the Michigan native will end up staying in Detroit. However, if they rebuild and he becomes available, the Bruins need to consider targeting him.
