The Boston Bruins made a big splash when they signed Nikita Zadorov to a six-year, $30 million contract on the first day of free agency. The 6-foot-6 defender is expected to be a crucial part of the club's blueline over the next several years because of it.

Now, we know what number Zadorov will wear as a Bruin. After meeting with GM Don Sweeney, Zadorov showed he will sport No. 91 in Boston.

Zadorov will be just the second player in Bruins history to wear No. 91. He certainly has big shoes to fill, as former Bruins star Marc Savard, of course, rocked the number.

Interestingly, Zadorov and Savard have a previous connection. Savard was an assistant coach for the Calgary Flames last season, where Zadorov spent the first half of the campaign. Due to this, Zadorov joked around, saying he would text Savard to let him know he had stolen his number.

Zadorov noted that he chose No. 91 because it is "upside down 16," as relayed by WEEI's Scott McLaughlin. With Rick Middleton having his No. 16 retired, Zadorov, of course, could not go with his preferred number. This is not the first time Zadorov has worn No. 91, though, as that was his number with the Vancouver Canucks this past season.

Nevertheless, the Bruins will now hope that Zadorov can make a significant impact wearing No. 91, just like Savard did.
