Things are going poorly for the Boston Bruins, and they have now made a roster move. According to NHL insider Frank Seravalli, the Bruins have placed forward Oliver Wahlstrom on waivers.
The Bruins claimed Wahlstrom on waivers from the New York Islanders back on Dec. 14. This was after he had two goals, two assists, and a minus-6 rating in 27 games with the Islanders this season. Now, after two months in a Bruins sweater, Wahlstrom is right back on the wire.
Since being claimed off waivers, Wahlstrom has struggled to make an impact with the Bruins. In 16 games with the Original Six club, he has one goal, one assist, 27 hits, and 28 penalty minutes. He also has not recorded a point in five consecutive games.
Teams looking for forward depth could consider taking a shot on the 2018 first-round pick. However, if he clears waivers, he will head down to the AHL to play with the Providence Bruins.
In 236 career NHL games split between the Islanders and Bruins, Wahlstrom has 37 goals, 73 points, and a minus-13 rating.
