This potential trade target is no longer an option for the Bruins.

A potential Boston Bruins trade target is officially off the board.

This is because Shane Wright has been traded by the Seattle Kraken to the Nashville Predators in exchange for Matthew Wood.

With the Bruins needing help at center, Wright could have been an interesting young forward them to take a gamble on. However, the 2022 fourth-overall pick is now heading to Nashville with this move.

This trade was long overdue for Wright. The 22-year-old forward has been struggling to break out and was clearly no longer a fit with the Kraken. He was also one of the NHL's most-talked-about trade candidates during the off-season, so seeing him finally get moved is not surprising at all.

Wright will now be looking to turn things around with the Predators. He has had a slow start to the season, as he has just four points in 14 games. He also had just 27 points in 74 games in 2025-26 after setting career highs with 19 goals and 44 points in 79 games during the 2024-25.

While Wright has had some struggles in recent seasons, he could have been a good player for the Bruins to take a chance on. However, with young forwards like Fraser Minten and James Hagens thriving early on this season, Boston should be perfectly fine without Wright, even if he is still young enough to break out.
