Bruins President Considering 'Two Paths' For Trade Deadline

Bruins president Cam Neely admitted the club could begin a retool.

Boston's Cam Neely Could Be Next On The Hot Seat

After a big off-season of spending, the Boston Bruins have a 22-19-5 record and are in the middle of a tight battle for a wild-card spot. The Original Six club has struggled with consistency this season, and Bruins president Cam Neely shared that this could impact the Bruins' trade deadline plans.

"We'll see where we're at," Neely said. "I think right now, we've got to look at two paths. One that we're buying and one that we may be retooling a little bit."

    Neely also added:

"We still feel like we've got a got a playoff team here, and we certainly don't want to jeopardize getting out of the playoffs because we made some moves that may be good for the future, but not good for the present."

It is understandable that Neely is considering two paths for this year's deadline. The Bruins are not a guaranteed playoff team for the first time in several years. This is especially so when noting that they have played multiple more games than the wild-card teams right behind them in the standings.

If the Bruins elect to be sellers, they have a handful of pending unrestricted free agents, like Trent Frederic, Justin Brazeau, Cole Koepke, and Parker Wotherspoon who would need to be watched.

We will need to wait and see what the Bruins end up doing this year at the deadline from here.

Do you think the Bruins should be buyers or sellers?

Definitely sellers if that's a big if they make the playoffs there getting bounced in the 1st round again. They might as well trade off there UFA's and see what they can get for them probably not much more than a late 2nd or 3rd.

bruins re tool needs to start with targeting prospects not picks. im sure tampa, collorado, montreal and chicago would part with connor geekie and bad contract nick paul back to bruins.

collorado calum ritchie and bad contract back to bruins.

picks to montreal for kirby dach

player and pick to chicago for colton dach.

player and lysel to ducks for zegras
