With the 132nd overall pick of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft, the Boston Bruins selected defenseman Frederic Brunet. While this was a bit of an under-the-radar pick at the time, the Bruins must be happy with this decision, as Brunet is emerging as one of their most promising prospects.

After posting two goals and 12 points in 48 games during his first season with the Providence Bruins in 2023-24, he took a notable step forward this campaign. In 69 regular-season games with the AHL squad in 2024-25, the 6-foot-3 blueliner posted five goals, 20 assists, 25 points, and a plus-15 rating. Overall, he has blossomed into a difference-maker for Providence, which is undoubtedly encouraging for the Bruins

Due to his solid play this campaign with Providence, Boston recalled Brunet for their season finale against the New Jersey Devils on April 15. The 21-year-old defenseman did not look too out of place during that matchup, either, recording two shots in 14:23 of ice time.

With all this, Bruins fans need to watch Brunet from here. The Quebec native is showing signs that he could blossom into a solid NHL defenseman. It will be fascinating to see if he hits another new level in his development next season and gets more opportunities with Boston because of it.
