At the 2025 NHL trade deadline, the Boston Bruins acquired defenseman Daniil Misyul from the New Jersey Devils in exchange for forward Marc McLaughlin. Now, his time with the Bruins organization is coming to a close, at least for now.
Lokomotiv Yaroslavl of the KHL has signed Misyul to a one-year contract for the 2025-26 season. However, the Bruins send the left-shot defenseman a qualifying offer by June 30, they would still hold his NHL rights until the end of the 2027-28 season if he ever wanted to play in North America again.
Following being traded to the Bruins, Misyul spent the rest of the 2024-25 season with Boston's AHL affiliate, the Providence Bruins. In 11 regular-season games with Providence, the 6-foot-3 defenseman recorded one goal, 27 penalty minutes, and a minus-2 rating. He also played in five post-season games for Providence, posting one assist and four penalty minutes.
Overall, Misyul heading overseas does not necessarily impact the Bruins' NHL roster, but Providence is losing some of their defensive depth. It will be intriguing to see if the Bruins tender him a qualifying offer to maintain his NHL signing rights from here.
Bruins Have Interesting Trade Target In Sabres Star Defender
One of the areas that the Boston Bruins should aim to improve this off-season is their defensive group. Their top four, in particular, could use improvement, especially with the team trading Brandon Carlo to the Toronto Maple Leafs at the 2025 NHL trade deadline.
