Here's the latest on Poitras.
The Boston Bruins were without one of their notable young forwards at practice on Tuesday.
This is because forward Matthew Poitras was absent from the Original Six club's practice.
Poitras being absent from the Bruins' Tuesday practice comes after he received an elbow to the head from Vegas Golden Knights forward Braedan Bowman on Monday night. Poitras exited the game following the play, while Bowman was given a five-minute major and game misconduct for the hit.
Bowman, however, did not receive any further discipline from NHL Player Safety for his high hit.
According to NESN's Adam Pellerin, Bruins head coach Marco Sturm shared that Poitras is seeing the doctor on Tuesday and will travel with the team for their road game against the Pittsburgh Penguins if his appointment goes well.
The Bruins are certainly hoping that Poitras will not be forced to miss time after receiving this hit. The 22-year-old forward has been showing signs of breaking out for Boston this season, as he has four goals, seven points, and a plus-3 rating in 12 games.
It will now be interesting to see what happens with Poitras from here. Here's to hoping that the young forward will be back in Boston's lineup soon.
