This Bruins rookie quietly had a strong game against the Habs.

Jake DeBrusk and Charlie Coyle were The Hockey News picks for the mid-season Selke Trophy.

Earlier this week, the Boston Bruins recalled rookie Johnny Beecher. The 2019 first-round pick was immediately inserted into the Bruins' lineup against the Montreal Canadiens last night (March 14) and quietly had a solid game.

While Beecher did not get on the scoresheet, he was quite impactful defensively. He notably won eight out of 11 faceoffs against the Canadiens. With the Bruins having trouble at the faceoff dot this season, this was a nice change to see.

Speaking to reporters following the game, Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery also praised Beecher for his success at the dot, backchecking, and work on the penalty kill.

Beecher, 22, will now look to build on his solid first game back with the Bruins. The potential for him to reclaim his spot in the Bruins' bottom six is there. At worst, he will continue to be a solid depth option for the club as they prepare for the postseason.

In 40 games this season with the Bruins, Beecher has five goals, seven points, and 91 hits.
