Tough news for the Bruins.
Boston Bruins forward James Hagens exited the team's Thursday contest against the Pittsburgh Penguins after being cross-checked by defenseman Samuel Girard during the third period.
Now, the Bruins have provided an unfortunate update regarding the Bruins young star.
The Bruins have announced that they have placed Hagens on injured reserve. With this news, he will miss a minimum of seven days.
With Hagens quickly emerging as one of the Bruins' important forwards this season, it is undoubtedly bad news that he has been placed on injured reserve. The Bruins will now need to adjust without having their young star in the lineup while he is sidelined.
In 17 games this season for the Bruins, Hagens has recorded six goals and 12 points.
With Hagens being placed on injured reserve, the Bruins also announced that they have called up forward Mikey Eyssimont from the Providence Bruins.
Eyssimont was placed on waivers by Boston last month and then assigned to Providence after clearing them. Yet, with how well he has played for Providence, it makes sense that Boston is giving him another chance on their roster with Hagens sidelined.
Eyssimont has an incredible 13 goals to go along with 16 points in just eight games for Providence this season. This includes him scoring six goals and recording eight points in his last three games for Providence. He has also recorded three hat tricks for Providence this campaign, including in their last game against the Hamilton Hammers on Nov. 6.
