James Hagens will be rocking this number for the Bruins.
On Wednesday, the Boston Bruins signed top prospect James Hagens to a three-year entry-level contract. This comes after the 19-year-old forward had one goal and four points in six games for the Providence Bruins during his amateur tryout.
With the Bruins signing Hagens to his entry-level deal, he is now officially an option for them for their NHL roster. It certainly makes sense that the Bruins are giving the youngster this chance, as he has a ton of skill and potential. The Bruins' forward group also needs a boost right now, and Hagens could provide them just that.
Now, with Hagens signing his entry-level contract, the Bruins have revealed his new number.
The Bruins have shared that Hagens will rock No. 44 for the Black and Gold.
Hagens will be the 16th player in Bruins history to wear No. 44. The last player to do so was current Bruins defenseman Henri Jokiharju, as he wore it in his debut for the Original Six club last season before switching to No. 20.
A few notable former Bruins who wore No. 44 include Dennis Seidenberg (2010 to 2016), Nick Boynton (2000 to 2006), and Glen Murray during his first stint in Boston (1992 to 1995).
Hagens wore No. 10 during his time with Boston College.
