The Boston Bruins are entering the 2026-27 season with the hope of taking another step in the right direction. However, if the Bruins hope to become a more legitimate threat in the Eastern Conference this season, they are going to need some of their players to hit new levels.
The Bruins have some very promising young players to watch heading into the 2026-27 season, and one is now being viewed as one of the NHL's top breakout candidates.
Bruins young center Fraser Minten was among the players featured on NHL.com's top 20 NHL breakout candidates list for the 2026-27 season.
Seeing Minten be named a top breakout candidate in the NHL is easy to understand. He showed a lot of promise last season for Boston, as he posted new career highs with 17 goals, 18 assists, 35 points, and 142 hits in 82 games. Yet, with that being the 22-year-old's first full season in the NHL, he undoubtedly has the potential to hit a new level now that he has gotten more experience.
If Minten can take that next step and cement himself as a true top-six center, it would be huge for a Bruins club that needs serious help down the middle. It will be interesting to see what kind of season he can put together for the Black and Gold in 2026-27 from here.
