Seven players recorded a point for the Boston Bruins in their 3-1 against the San Jose Sharks on Thursday. It marked their 12th straight win against the Sharks.

The Boston Bruins scored twice in a 19-second span late in the first period and never looked back, winning their 12th consecutive game against the San Jose Sharks 3-1 at SAP Center on Thursday.

Seven Bruins players each registered a point, and Linus Ullmark made 26 saves for Boston, which improved to 3-0-0.

Brad Marchand scored his first goal of the season to open the scoring at 18:06 of the first period. Johnny Beecher pushed the puck up to Marchand on the left side of the zone, and the captain settled the puck and rifled it far side on San Jose goalie Kaapo Kahkonen. Beecher’s assist was his first NHL point.

Just 19 seconds later, Charlie Coyle circled around the net and fired a centering pass to the waiting sticks of Trent Frederic and James van Riemsdyk. After a few swipes at it, van Riemsdyk pushed the puck across the line to make it 2-0.

In the second period, the defense stepped up to preserve the lead. Ullmark used his glove to stop Sharks forward Filip Zadina on a short-handed rush just 1:51 into the period, and Pavel Zacha flashed his defensive capabilities, racing back to single-handedly break up what would have been a 2-on-1 rush for San Jose midway through the frame.

David Pastrnak scored his fourth goal of the year in bizarre fashion at 16:46. He rolled towards the net, but got knocked over before he could take a shot. Still, inexplicably, the puck rolled through a couple Sharks defensemen and past Kahkonen to put the Bruins ahead 3-0.

The Sharks turned up the pressure in the third period, eventually breaking through when Anthony Duclair backhanded the puck off defenseman Hampus Lindholm’s leg and past Ullmark at 11:13 to cut it to 3-1.

The Bruins responded well after giving up the shut out, putting five shots on San Jose’s net before the Sharks put their next one on goal. The Sharks couldn’t cut the deficit any closer after pulling Kahkonen for the extra skater, and Boston held on for the 3-1 win.

The Bruins head south to face the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday at 10:30 p.m. ET. Follow along with The Hockey News for all the coverage.
