One of the Boston Bruins' top objectives this off-season should be to add at least one legitimate top-six winger. When looking at this year's pending unrestricted free agents (UFAs) and current NHL trade candidates, the Bruins have some interesting options to consider. Because of this, let's go over four top-six wingers who the Bruins should target.

Also, please vote in the poll above to share which of these four you would like the Bruins to bring in the most.

    Nikolaj Ehlers, Winnipeg Jets

One pending UFA who could make a lot of sense for the Bruins is Nikolaj Ehlers. The expectation is that the 29-year-old forward is expected to test the free-agent market on July 1. If he does, in fact, become a UFA at the start of next month, the Bruins would be very wise to pursue him.

It is not a secret in the slightest that the Bruins could use another star left winger, especially after trading former captain Brad Marchand to the Florida Panthers at the 2025 NHL trade deadline. Due to this, a player like Ehlers could be a perfect fit for the Bruins' roster. When looking at their current group, he could slot wonderfully on their second line and would also be a clear option for their power play.

Ehlers had another strong season in 2024-25, as he recorded 24 goals, 39 assists, 63 points, and a plus-14 rating in 69 games. The 2014 first-round pick has also scored at least 21 goals in eight out of his 10 NHL seasons and has hit the 60-point mark on four different occasions. The Bruins could use that kind of consistent offensive production, so Ehlers would be a big-time addition to their group if signed.

    Brock Boeser, Vancouver Canucks

Brock Boeser is another notable pending UFA who the Bruins could consider making a big push for. The expectation has been for a while now that Boeser will end up testing the market instead of re-signing with the Vancouver Canucks. If Boeser does opt to leave the Canucks, the Bruins could very well work hard to try to scoop him up.

Boeser would finally give the Bruins an answer for their second-line right wing problem, as he is a talented sniper. The Bruins undoubtedly need more scoring, so bringing in a player like Boeser would be major for them. In addition, he would give their power play a significant boost, which is another notable need for the Original Six club.

Boeser had a bit of a down year for his standards in 2024-25 with the struggling Canucks, as he posted 25 goals and 50 points in 75 games. Yet, when noting that he just had 40 goals and 73 points during the 2023-24 with the Canucks, there is clear reason to believe that he can get his numbers back up. He has also scored at least 23 goals six times during his career, so he certainly would give Boston more production if signed.

    Martin Necas, Colorado Avalanche

Martin Necas' name has been floating around the rumor mill, and he could make a lot of sense for the Bruins to bring in. At 26 years old, the Colorado Avalanche forward would fit right into the Bruins' retooling plans if acquired. In addition, he would give them another proven top-six forward who can play both on the wing and down the middle if they acquired him through trade.

Another very appealing factor about Necas is that he has already played internationally with Bruins forwards David Pastrnak and Pavel Zacha. Thus, if the Bruins acquired Necas from the Avalanche, they would be bringing in a player who has already had past chemistry with two of their top forwards. Thus, he is a player who the Bruins should seriously consider targeting this summer.

Necas is also coming off a fantastic season. In 79 games split between the Carolina Hurricanes and Avalanche, the star forward scored 27 goals and set new career highs with 56 assists and 83 points. With numbers like these, he would give the Bruins another game-changing forward to work with, which would be huge for a Boston club looking to be a playoff team again.

    JJ Peterka, Buffalo Sabres

The Buffalo Sabres are reportedly listening to offers for forward JJ Peterka, and he stands out as another player who could make a lot of sense for the Bruins. The 2020 second-round pick has already cemented himself as a legitimate top-six winger, and at just 23 years old, he still has time to improve even further. Due to this, the Bruins should consider making a push for him.

If the Bruins acquired Peterka from the Sabres, he could slot very nicely on their top line at left wing with Zacha and Pastrnak. However, he also can play right wing, so he could be a massive addition to their second line if brought in. Furthermore, with Peterka being a skilled offensive forward, he would also have the potential to significantly boost the Bruins' power play.

Peterka appeared in 77 games this season with the Sabres, where he scored 27 goals and hit new career highs with 41 assists and 68 points. These are impressive totals, and he would certainly be a major addition to the Bruins' roster if they acquired him because of it.

After a disappointing 2024-25 season, the Original Six club should be looking to improve their roster, especially when noting that they have cap space to work with.
