Winslow Townson-USA TODAY Sports - Bruins Score Absolutely Baffling Goal

During the Bruins' 4-0 shutout against the Vancouver Canucks yesterday, Boston's third goal was very confusing for the team.

"We don't know how or why. We just know it went in," the Boston Bruins said on X.

In the end, it slid off Canucks blueliner Tyler Myers' skate, he tried to grab it with his stick and fish it out, but it snuck past his own netminder Thatcher Demko.

Demko had made a pad save on David Pastrnak's shot, which broke his stick and sent it flying into the air, but it went between Myers' legs, and then slid in. So, ultimately, it seemed to

"EA NHL might be realistic after all," a fan commented.

Sadly, it came after a recent fiery streak for Demko, who won eight straight games through the vast majority of January.

It was the Canucks' first regulation time loss since Jan. 4, when they lost 2-1 against the St. Louis Blues.

"We gave them four goals," said Canucks Coach Rick Tocchet in a postgame interview.

"It's a big game. A lot of eyes were on us tonight. They didn't play well their last game. Their coach kind of called them out. And they showed up. We just made some stupid mistakes," he added.

But he said some played well, with good performance on the third line from left-winger Dakota Joshua, who made four shots on goal, the most of his team.

"Marchand and Pastrnak [are] great players, and they showed up. We've got to have that kind of thing," he said.

"I can't get too critical," he said, since they have been winning a lot. "But these are big games, you'd like to see a little bit better from some guys," he said.

The Canucks have still won seven of their last 10 games, and remain a top playoff contender, tied with the Bruins as the best team in the league, each with 73 points.

It was also Bruins' star netminder Linus Ullmark's first shutout of the 2023-24 season, saving all 17 of the Canucks' shots. It is also the seventh of his career.
