These two Bruins have been returned to Providence.

According to the AHL Transactions page, the Boston Bruins have assigned forward Matthew Poitras and defenseman Michael Callahan to the Providence Bruins.

With the 4 Nations Face-Off break officially here for the Bruins, it is understandable that Poitras and Callahan are heading back to Providence. This will allow them to continue to play in Providence while Boston gets their break, assuming these aren't just paper transactions.

Poitras has appeared in 26 games this season with Boston, posting one goal, 11 points, and a minus-3 rating. This includes recording four assists over his last four contests with the NHL club. Down in the AHL with Providence this season, he has eight goals and 20 points in 23 games.

Callahan, 25, has played in his first eight NHL games this season with the Bruins, where he has zero points, four hits, nine blocks, and a minus-2 rating. In 35 games this season with Providence, he has one goal and six points. He was also named an AHL All-Star this season.
