Back in November, the Boston Bruins made the notable decision to send Matthew Poitras down to the AHL. This was after the 20-year-old forward had one goal, three assists, and a minus-4 rating in 14 games with the Original Six club. He also was held off the scoresheet in his final four games with Boston before being demoted.
Poitras struggled after being sent down to the Providence Bruins, posting just three assists in his first seven games. However, following that cold start, he has been absolutely magnificent. Over his last 10 games, the 2022 second-round pick has 13 points. This included a seven-game goal streak from Dec. 6 to Dec. 18.
Being assigned to Providence has helped Poitras gain plenty of confidence offensively. With how well he is playing, now seems like an excellent time for them to give the youngster another shot on the NHL roster.

If Poitras is recalled, the Bruins would have another option for their top nine. With the Bruins needing more secondary scoring, taking a chance on a red-hot, skilled forward like Poitras is certainly worth considering.
