The Bruins should consider making a push for this Canucks forward.

Last Friday (Nov. 29), NHL insider Kevin Weekes reported that Vancouver Canucks forward Nils Hoglander has been generating trade interest. He specifically mentioned that the Washington Capitals, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Columbus Blue Jackets are among the clubs interested.

While Weekes did not mention the Boston Bruins as one of the teams linked to Hoglander, the Original Six club should consider targeting the Canucks forward.

Hoglander, 23, currently carries an affordable $1.1 million cap hit this season. However, he would be more than a rental for the Bruins if acquired, as he signed a three-year, $9 million contract extension with the Canucks in October, which kicks in next season.

With the Bruins needing more scoring, Hoglander could be a nice low-risk, high-reward young forward to take a flier on. While this season has been tough for him (two goals and five points in 23 games), he showed just last season that he can be a very solid middle-six forward.

In 80 games last season, Hoglander had 24 goals, 36 points, and a plus-23 rating. With numbers like these, he undoubtedly has the potential to provide solid secondary scoring. In addition, he is also still young enough that he may not have hit his ceiling yet.

There's no question that Hoglander has the skill to be a scorer in the NHL, and a change of scenery could benefit him. Thus, he should be a player the Bruins have on their radar moving forward.
