Boston Bruins star goalie Jeremy Swayman still remains unsigned, with September just about here. This has naturally caused concern among Bruins fans, as training camp is right around the corner, and the regular season is not too far behind it.

During a recent appearance on the Shut Up Marc podcast, Swayman was transparent about his ongoing contract negotiations with the Bruins.

When asked about his perspective on the matter, Swayman first dove into last summer's contract negotiations:

"If you were to ask me that same question a year ago, I would answer it truthfully, and I would say it's scary. It's a lot of resentment towards people that want you to succeed, and when you're not getting compensated for your endless efforts and doing what you best, it's a nerve-wracking feeling because it's your family you're fighting for."

Swayman then explained how his feelings on negotiations have since changed significantly this time around.

"The answer I'm going to give you this year is that I've educated myself, and that I understand the business side of it all. And it's given me a complete new mindset of understanding the business and how to react to it. I understand the cap is going up and where it will be in years. I understand my comparables and how I can't ruin the goalie market for other guys that are going to be in my shoes down the line."

Based on Swayman's comments, it's clear that the star goaltender is not looking for a discount on his next deal.

Elliotte Friedman reported earlier this month that Swayman and the Bruins "weren't close" on a new deal. In addition, WEEI's Rich Keefe recently said that he believes Swayman is seeking $10 million per season.

It will be very interesting to see what Swayman's eventual deal ends up being from here.
