Jeremy Swayman had a very tough night against the Jets.

The Boston Bruins suffered an ugly 8-1 loss to the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday night (Dec. 10). This included five third-period unanswered goals by the Jets.

Bruins goalie Jeremy Swayman stayed in the net for the entirety of this contest and set an unfortunate new career high in the process. For the first time in his career,  Swayman allowed eight goals in a single game.

Swayman was not the only reason for this terrible loss to the Jets, as the Bruins played a bad game as a team. However, there is no question that Swayman ran into serious trouble during the third period, allowing five goals on just 13 shots.

Before this contest, Swayman seemed to be breaking through his poor start to the season. He had a .909 save percentage or better in four out of his previous six appearances and did not allow more than three goals in each of them.

Before his hot stretch of play, Swayman allowed seven goals on Nov. 14 against the Dallas Stars and five goals against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Nov. 18. Thus, he has had some challenging moments this campaign. This loss to the Jets is now only the latest example of that.

After this tough night against the Jets, Swayman now has a 9-10-2 record, a .885 save percentage, and a 3.27 goals-against average in 21 games this season.
