This Bruins goalie prospect had a big year for Providence.

The Providence Bruins' regular season is complete, and it was certainly a big year for the AHL club. They finished the campaign with a 54-16-2 record and led the entire AHL with 110 points. With this, they are certainly viewed as among the favorites for the Calder Cup this spring.

Bruins goalie prospect Michael DiPietro was a massive reason for Providence's success this regular season, as he had another monster year for the AHL club.

In 45 games this season for Providence, DiPietro had a 34-8-1 record, a .930 save percentage, a 1.91 goals-against average, and three shutouts. His save percentage and goals-against average were both the best in the AHL, so there is no question that the 26-year-old had a special year for Providence.

With how well DiPietro played this season for Providence, he should land his second consecutive Aldege "Baz" Bastien Memorial Award as the AHL's best goaltender this year. He won it last season after he had a 26-8-5 record, a .927 save percentage, a 2.05 goals-against average, and four shutouts in 40 games for Providence.

DiPietro will now be looking to stay hot with the playoffs here for Providence. If he does, Providence will be a very challenging team to beat.

With how well DiPietro continues to play at the AHL level for Providence, it should only be a matter of time before he gets consistent chances at the NHL level. Expect him to compete with Joonas Korpisalo next training camp for the Bruins' backup job.
