This Bruins forward immediately made an impact in his first game back with Providence.

On Feb. 9, the Boston Bruins assigned Matthew Poitras to their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Providence Bruins. This demotion was not due to his performance but rather the Bruins' 4 Nations Face-Off break. This return to Providence allowed him to continue to get into game action rather than not play for two weeks straight.

Poitras played in his first game since being reassigned to Providence on Feb. 15 against the Bridgeport Islanders. The 2022 second-round pick undoubtedly made an impact in the contest, as he scored a goal in the second period that gave Providence a 2-0 lead.

Poitras' goal was certainly a nice one, too. After receiving a feed in the offensive zone from Ryan Mast, Poitras beat Bridgeport goaltender Henrik Tikkanen top shelf with a beautiful wrist shot.

Seeing Poitras immediately score a goal after being sent down to Providence is encouraging. With this, he has had a point in three straight AHL appearances. In addition, he now sits at nine goals and 21 points in 24 games this season with Providence.
