Darren Raddysh is heading to the Maple Leafs with a sign-and-trade.
Darren Raddysh was viewed as one of the Boston Bruins' top potential free agent targets. It is not difficult to understand why, as the Bruins desperately need a top-four right-shot defenseman, and Raddysh was one of the top pending UFA blueliners this year.
However, Raddysh now will not be an option for the Bruins, as he is heading to one of their biggest rivals.
According to TSN's Pierre LeBrun, the Toronto Maple Leafs and Tampa Bay Lightning are finalizing a sign-and-trade involving Raddysh. In addition, LeBrun reported that Raddysh's deal with the Maple Leafs will be for eight years and have an AAV of over $8 million.
With the Bruins desperately needing a right-shot defenseman, it is tough to see Raddysh reportedly heading to Toronto. The 30-year-old would have had the potential to be a strong addition to the Bruins' top four and power play if brought in. In 73 games this season with the Bolts, the 6-foot-1 blueliner recorded 22 goals, 48 assists, and 70 points in 73 games.
With Raddysh heading to the Maple Leafs, the Bruins top pending UFA right-shot defenseman options are currently Rasmus Andersson, Jacob Trouba, and John Carlson.
