According to multiple reports, the Boston Bruins have traded Brad Marchand to the Florida Panthers. Per ESPN's John Buccigross, the return is a conditional 2027 second-round pick that will turn into a 2028 first-round pick if conditions are met.
Marchand had been in the rumor mill over the last several weeks. While both the Bruins and Marchand expressed interest in getting a contract extension done, he is instead heading to the team that knocked out Boston in the playoffs two years in a row.
It makes sense that the Panthers have brought in Marchand, however. With Matthew Tkachuk out long-term, Marchand will now be a great replacement in their top six he himself is given the green light to return.
In 1,090 games over 16 seasons with the Bruins, Marchand had 422 goals, 554 assists, 976 points, and a plus-284 rating. What an era it was, but the legendary Bruin is heading to Florida.
This story will be updated once more information about the trade is released.
